Why Geithner is the Wrong Man for Job of Treasury Secretary

I’m speechless.  Mr. Geithner testified today that it was an honest mistake and Intuit’s software Turbo Tax didn’t call out the mistake.  And Senators, please accept this application for the position of Treasury Secretary where Mr. Geithner will be in charge of the Internal Revenue Service and forgive him of the oversight.  How many people can get away with that in a job interview?

Let’s listen.

Just because he worked for the International Monetary Fund and had to pay taxes on his own (no witholdings) is not something new.  Many US workers are 1099 employees and must pay taxes on their own.  Did he really think he didn’t need to pay taxes?  Does hiring a H&R Block tax advisor not make sense?

In my recent review of the Federal Reserve System, I came across a publication produced by the Federal Reserve itself and it reads:

“…Safety and Soundness…The banking system is only as safe and sound as the banks within the system. So the Federal Reserve examines banks regularly to identify and contain bank risk…”

By every consensus, this is one of the worse financial crisis in the history of the nation.  The epic center or ground zero is “Wall St” with the collapse of AIG, Merrill Lynch, and Lehman Brothers.  This occurred on Geithner’s watch.  All companies are headquartered in New York and arguably not all of these companies are banks.  However, they all borrow from one another.  As one of the top watch dog of the largest bank in the Federal Reserve System, you would think he saw this risk coming with sirens blaring.

Bottom line, with so many frauds, cheats, and high risk taking on “Wall Street”, what kind of message is President Obama sending by continuing to back the wrong candidate?  What does it say for Congress and the Democratic Party to approve?  Please fellow Americans, write to the President, Senators and House of Representatives and urge them to find a better person for the job.

I have a dream…

What a day it was with the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama taking oath of office.  I was born in the year Mankind landed on the moon.  I was only but 2 months old.  But if I had to say if there was another historical moment that I would want to have witnessed as an adult, this would be one of them.  The feeling of hope for a better world is once again re-energized much like the first time I heard Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. recorded “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963.
